Update

Auckland Tennis has been assisting Tennis New Zealand to set up a National Grading System. The system TNZ are in the process of organising and implementing is base on our system and uses the same software package with some modifications. We have allowed TNZ access to our data to give them a starting point so they can begin to add people from other associations to their system. Currently North Harbour is in the process of being added.

In the longer term, when other associations become part of the TNZ system and it is proven to reliably fulfil the functions we require, Auckland Tennis will recommend to you, our clubs, that the Auckland Tennis system and the TNZ system merge.

All people who are on the Auckland grading system will also be on the TNZ system. Players who play in other tournaments and competitions as well as Auckland interclub will notice small differences between the two systems. This is because only points gained or lost in Auckland competitions are entered into the Auckland system.

Administratively, clubs and players who play in the Auckland Tennis senior competitions all require a code and points which are issued by their Auckland club. For all our competitions, the points from the Auckland Tennis grading system should be used and player codes should be the Auckland club codes.

There have also been two small changes to the system:

1. There are now only 10 grades not 11
2. There are some small increases to points gained by the winning player (s). This is to create a little more reward for  winning and increase movement between grades.
