MARINA ERAKOVIC’S WIMBLEDON SUCCESS

July 4, 2011 4:18 pm

Tennis Auckland would like to congratulate Marina and her doubles partner Tamarine Tanasugam (THA) for making the Semi finals of Wimbledon.  What a fantastic achievement - we were all hoping the overnight delay would work in their favour!!!!   Marina has worked so hard to get back to top tennis fitness and also made the second round of the singles – wow Marina, as our 2010 – 2011 Tennis Auckland "Player of the Year" (for the 9th time) we are so very proud of you and your "pay day" will no doubt help!!

ASB CLASSSIC 2011 PLAYER ACHIEVEMENTS AT WIMBLEDON

Congratulations to Katarina Strebotnik and Kveta Peschke on winning the Women's Doubles.  Katarina and Kveta also won this years ASB Classic Doubles.  Katarina previously won the ASB Classic Doubles in 2005 with Asagoe and was our Singles Champion in the same year.  Katarina and Kveta  now become the joint world number 1 ranked women's doubles players.

Congratulations also to Sabine Lisicki on reaching the Wimbledon Doubles final and Singles Semi final.  Sabine played in this years ASB Classic where she came through Qualifying then won her first round in the main draw before falling to Yanina Wickmayer the second seed, in three sets.

We certainly can say "we see them here first".
