150 clubs around New Zealand will be participating in the Come Play! Tennis Open Day on February 15. These clubs are throwing open their doors to all aspiring players and offering opportunities at all levels for newcomers and those who have been recently lost to tennis.

Tennis NZ Game Development Manager – Ian Francis says it’s an open invitation to everyone thoughout the country, regardless of age or ability, to enjoy tennis. “There’s no entry fee, no pressure, just come and have fun,” says Mr Francis. “The tone is reflected in the theme for the day: ‘The ball with the built-in smile’.”

Many clubs are using the opportunity to conduct some unique events for their club – whether it be attempting a world record, inviting a celebrity or celebrating their 100th Anniversary.

Some examples:
Manurewa Tennis Club (Auckland) – 100th Anniversary and opening of new courts
Herne Bay Tennis Club (Auckland) – Grand Opening Day Gala – new courts and refurbishment
Glen Eden Tennis Club (Auckland) – 80th Anniversary
Koru (Pakuranga) – Local MP Maurice Williamson playing
