Heineken Open 2009 Singles Champion Juan Martin Del Potro

In another stunning performance on centre court Juan Martin Del Potro won his final against American Sam Querrey 6-4 6-4 to claim his fifth career titel on the Tour. In a tight two set-match the Argentine No 1 seed was forced to show his best tennis to pull through for the title. Having never played each other before the Auckland crowd enjoyed a fascinating premier of to promising young guns. Currently No 9 in the world Del Potro will be off to Melbourne. Seeded 8th at the Australian Open he will play his first round to Mischa Zverev. Sam Querrey is to play Phlipp Kohlschreiber from Germany, who had to retire from Heineken Open this year.

Damm/Lindstedt 2009 Heineken Open Doubles Champions

The No.1 seeded pair Martin Damm(CZE) and Robert Lindstedt(SWE) are Doubles Champions of Heineken Open 2009. With this 7-5 6-4 victory over Indian veteran Leander Paes and his partner Scott Lipsky, Damm contributed to his record of now 529 wins and 369 losses to claim his 38th career titel. For Robert Lindstedt it is his fourth title after he and Damm surged through their semifinal against Frantisek Cermak(Czech Republic) and Slovak Michal Mertinal 6-3 6-2 in last of yesterday’s action.
