Big Upset Win For Marina in US Open Doubles
New Zealand tennis No 1 Marina Erakovic has been involved in a big upset in the first round of the women’s doubles at the US Open. Erakovic and her Croatian partner Jelana Kostanic Tosic beat the tournament’s number two seeds Kveta Peschke (Czech Republic) and Rennae Stubbs (Australia).
The unranked duo won the match 6-4 3-6 7-5 in front of a big crowd with Stubbs strenuously disputing an ace call in the final game which gave Erakovic and Kostanic Tosic a match point.
New Zealand tennis No 1 Marina Erakovic has lost at the US Open in New York. She suffered her first-round exit when losing 3-6 6-7 to Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year.
