Sacha Jones beat Anne-Christine Voicu (Can) 4-6 6-0 6-2 to move into the last sixteen at the Canadian Open Junior Championships. Sacha plays Yana Buchina from Russia for a place in the quarter-finals.

Rubin Statham beat Cristian Paiz (Gua) 6-1 6-3 in the first round of a Futures tournament in Ecuador. His opponent in the second round is sixth seed Matthew Ebden from Australia.

Marina Erakovic lost 7-6(5) 6-3 to Emmanuelle Gagliardi from Switzerland in the last round of qualifying at the US Open in New York. This is the second time in two appearances that Marina has fallen one match short of qualifying for the final Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Rubin Statham lost 6-1 3-6 6-4 to Justin Daio Natale (USA) in the semi-finals of a Futures tournament in Ecuador. Rubin won his second round in three sets before downing Ivan Endara (Ecu) in the quarters. Statham is through to the doubles final partnering Adam Thompson.

Marina Erakovic is through to the last round of qualifying at the US Open in New York. Marina defeated 21st seed Galina Boskovoena (Rus) 6-4 6-4 and is now just one win away from qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career. In her way is the experienced Swiss player Emmanuelle Gagliardi who is seeded tenth and currently ranked 111th in the world. Gagliardi will be remembered for playiing an epic match against Anna Kournikova at the ASB Classic in Auckland a few years ago.

Marina Erakovic routinely dispatched Hilary Barte (USA) to move through to the second round of qualifying at the US Open in New York. Marina won the match 6-2 6-4 and needs to win two more matches to qualify for the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career. Her next match is against 21st seed Galina Voskoboeva from Russia who is ranked 129 on the WTA computer.

GD Jones lost 6-3 6-2 to Matthias Feitsch (Aut) in the second round of the Futures tournament at Vienna, Austria. GD qualified for the tournament and won his first round in three sets before falling to the Austrian.
