Shona Lee lost in two tie-breaker sets to American wildcard Christina McHale in the first round of the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Edmond, Oklahoma. The American comfortably won both breakers to push Lee out the first round exit door.
Marina Erakovic dropped the first set but recovered to beat former top hundred player Angelika Roesch from Germany 2-6 7-5 6-2 in the opening round of the US$25000 tournament at Padova, Italy. Marina plays Mariya Koryttseva (Ukr) in the next round.
Raewyn Hooper is relinquishing her full time position in December this year. Raewyn has superbly carried out the full time role of Administration Assistant for the past 8 years.
Principal amongst her many duties has been the running of Auckland Tennis interclub competitions at all levels – senior, junior and midweek.
Auckland Tennis is seeking a full time replacement for Raewyn. This person needs to be IT literate and preferably have some knowledge of tennis and how Auckland Tennis operates.

Marina Erakovic lost 7-5 6-3 to top seed Agnes Szavay (Hun) in the first round of the qualifying event for Wimbledon. Marina was playing her first WTA match since losing in the opening round of qualifying at the French Open last month. Szavay had previously beaten Marina at a junior tournament in Australia on hardcourts in 2005 and the result on the Roehampton grass yesterday was a repeat straight set win for the Hungarian.
