Marina’s French Open Hopes Dashed

May 24, 2007 11:58 am

Marina Erakovic was beaten 6-4 6-1 by Margit Ruutel from Estonia in the first round of qualifying at Roland Garros.  Marina’s hopes of qualifying for the first time at a major were dashed after 77 minutes of play as the Estonian gradually gained control of the match.  Marina struggled to win points on her own second serve, winning just 4 of the 20 points played when she missed her first delivery.  Her first serve percentage was 60% for the match.  Hopefully, Marina won’t have to wait too much longer before she breaks through and qualifiies at a major for the first time.
