Fourth seed Marina Erakovic lost a close three set encounter to Anda Perianu (Rom) in the second round of qualifying at a US$75000 tournament at Las Vegas, Nevada.  Marina went down 7-6(7) 2-6 6-3 to the Romanian who is ranked 182nd on the WTA computer list.

Marina Erakovic beat Monique Adamczak (Aus) 7-6(4) 7-6(2) in the first round of qualifying at a US$75000 tournament at Las Vegas, Nevada.  Fourth seed Erakovic plays Anda Perianu (Rom) in the next round.

Berman Wins USTA National Open

Sean Berman won the Boys 14 Singles at the USTA National Open at Claremont ,California earlier today.  Sixth seed Berman beat second seed Marcos Giron 4-6 6-4 6-2 in the final.

Sean Berman is through to the final of the Boys 14 Singles at the USTA National Open at Claremont, California.  Sixth seed Berman notched up wins against Orange Bowl 12’s Champ Reo Asami and third seed Sahak Bazrganian before beating top seed Emmett Egger 4-6 6-4 6-1 in yesterday’s semi-final.  Sean plays second seed Marcos Giron in the final.

Shona Lee lost 4-6 6-2 7-5 to 14th seed Stanislava Hrozenska (Svk) in the second round of qualifying at the US$25000 ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Clearwater, Florida.

Alan Chester Wins 38th National Title

Auckland Tennis Board Chairman Alan Chester recently won the 65+ Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles titles at the 2007 New Zealand Championships held in Napier, 17th to 21st January  taking his total career titles to a massive 38.  The 38 titles Alan has amassed over his junior, 35+ and senior years is thought to be a New Zealand record.  In winning the three titles at the National Championships, Alan has also taken the "clean sweep" at least six times in his career.  We congratulate Alan and all of the other Auckland Players who took part in the 2007 National Championships.  Results listed below More…

Sean Berman On European Junior Circuit

Unseeded Sean Berman made the semi-finals of the 14 and under Boy’s Singles at the Teen Tennis tournament at Bolton, England recently.  Sean lost to top seed Anton Volkov (Rus) 6-3 6-4.  He then crossed the Channel to play Les Petits As in France but was knocked out in the third round of qualifying by French junior Pierre Lacavalerie.  This tournament was easily won by Spanish teen sensation Carlos Boluda.
