Shona Lee lost 6-4 6-7 6-1 to Elena Gantcheva (Bul) in a second round match at the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Edmond, USA.  Lee fought hard to stay in the match for the first two sets before falling off the pace in the decider.

Shona Recovers To Win First Round

Shona Lee has successfully navigated her way through the first round of the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Edmond, USA.  Shona recovered after losing the opening set to tournament wildcard Krista Damico (USA) to post a 2-6 6-3 6-2 victory.  Shona plays Elena Gantcheva (Bul) in round two.

Ward Stopped By Injury

William Ward was forced to retire in his final round qualifying match at Chico, California.  Ward was trailing fifth seed Antonio Ruiz-Rosales (Mex) 0-3 in the first set when he decided further play was futile.

Statham Scores Straight Set Win

Rubin Statham beat Matteo Volante (Ita) 6-3 7-5 in the first round of a Futures event at Castelfranco, Italy.  Rubin faces another Italian player in the second round.

Sacha Out Of Wimbledon Warm-Up

Number eight seed Sacha Jones lost 6-2 6-3 to British wildcard Georgia Stoop in the first round of the LTA Championships at Roehampton.  Sacha is also playing doubles this week partnered by Yanina Wickmayer from Belgium.

Second Round Loss For Sacha

Second seed Sacha Jones lost in the second round of the Gerry Weber Junior Open in Germany last week.  Sacha lost 7-6 6-3 to Katerina Kramperova (Cze) on the grasscourts at Halle.  Her next tournament is the traditional Wimbledon warm-up event at Roehampton.

Marina Loses In First Round

Marina Erakovic has been knocked out in the first round of a US$25000 ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Fontanafredda, Italy.  Marina went down fighting to Alice Canepa (Ita) 6-4 7-6(4).
