Top seed Hana Sromova, ranked 114th in the world, beat Marina Erakovic 6-3 7-5 in second round play at the US$25000 ITF tournament at Hammond, Louisiana.  Erakovic was named in the New Zealand Fed Cup team yesterday and will spearhead the women’s challenge in Korea next month.

Sacha Jones is through to the quarter-finals of an ITF Grade 1 tournament for the third straight week.  At the Mitsubishi Lancer International Junior Championships in Manila she has won her first two matches without the loss of a set.  In the quarters, the tournament favourite and top seed plays Noppawan Lertcheewaka from Thailand.

Marina Erakovic destroyed Karoline Borgersen from Norway 6-0 6-1 to move into the second round of an ITF tournament at Hammond, Louisiana.  Waiting to ambush her challenge in round two is the top seed Hana Sromova (CZE) who is ranked 114th in the world.

Marina Erakovic has been drawn to play a qualifier, Karoline Borgersen (NOR), in the first round of the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Hammond, Louisiana.  Norgersen is ranked 397th in the world.

Nathan Lewis, who now resides in Irvine, California, has won the Boys 12 Singles at the 50th Annual Long Beach Junior Tournament in California with considerable ease.  Lewis, who won back-to-back matches in earlier rounds without the loss of a single game, easily beat top seed Aaron Meltzer (USA) 6-2 6-0 in a one-sided final.

Sacha Jones went down 6-3 6-2 to Khrystyna Antoniychuk (UKR) in the semi-finals of the Bangkok International Junior tournament.  Jones beat the top seeded Antoniychuk in the final of a tournament in Malaysia last week but was unable to repeat the performance in Thailand.

Marina Erakovic lost 6-4 6-1 to sixth seed Stephanie Dubois from Canada in the quarter-finals of the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament at Redding, California.  Marina had beaten the second seed in the opening round and followed up with a comfortable second round win before falling victim to Dubois.
