Marina Erakovic lost 6-3 6-2 to Meng Yuan (Chn) in the first round of qualifying at the GHI Bronx Tennis Classic in New York. The win gives Yuan a 2-1 edge in head to head matches after the pair split victories on the Australian Grasscourt Circuit earlier this year. Erakovic will play qualifying at the US Open in New York next week.
Rubin Statham fought off the challenge from Federico Torresi (ITA) to move through to the quarter-finals of the US$15000 Men’s Futures tournament at Blozano, Italy. Rubin won the match 6-0 7-6 and now plays wildcard entrant andrea Alviano from Italy.
Rubin Statham beat Claudio Rizzi (ITA) 6-1 6-2 in the first round of an ITF Men’s Futures Tournament at Bolzano, Italy. The news was not so good for Oliver Statham who lost 6-1 6-1 to Thomas Holzer (ITA) at the same venue. At Makassar, Indonesia, William Ward lost 7-6 6-3 to Hayato Furukawa (JPN) in the final round of qualifying for a Futures tournament.
